Bush Capital Horse Rescue utlised their online forum to rally the horse community of Canberra and surrounds to get assistance coordinated for those affected by the Victorian fires in February 2009.
We kicked into action on the Saturday night of the fires starting, and worked through Sunday to set up relationships with Victorian groups to coordinate our response with.
Six pallet-loads of horse equipment was collected over a ten-day period, along with a horse float and numerous smaller parcels of urgently-needed veterinary supplies. Amongst this was almost 200 horse rugs, 14 saddles, and countless halters, leads, fly veils, and other tack.
Many people also donated directly to TripleR Equine Welfare who were coordinating a huge response on the ground down there.
