We aim to provide the following services:
Intervention
We can provide intervention assistance when requested by horse owners struggling to maintain their horses in healthy condition. The Bush Capital Horse Rescue Association will provide advice on returning horses to full health. We can also assist with provision of food, as well as arranging vet, dentist and farrier visits.
The horses remain in the ownership of their owner, and our aim is to work with the owner to return them to full health.
Surrender
When a horse owner is no longer able to care for a horse adequately, they may surrender the horse to the Bush Capital Horse Rescue Association. When this happens we will reloacte the horse to one of our foster carers, who will work to return the horse to full health before the association finds a permanent home for the horse.
A surrender fee of $100 may apply to cover our initial registration and transport costs to retrieve the horse, however if the horse can be delivered to a foster carer property then this fee will be reduced to $50.00.
Stray or Abandoned horses
When a horse is found stray or abandoned, the Bush Capital Horse Rescue Association will work with authorities to locate an owner of the horse. While this is happening, we will provide care for the horse with one of our foster carers. If no owner is found, the horse will be assessed and sold by the association.
Seized horses
The Bush Capital Horse Rescue Association has no power to seize abused or neglected horses, however we do work with NSW and ACT RSPCA to provide foster care for horses they have seized. As with our other services, the horses are brought back to full health by one of our foster carers before a permanent home is found.
Apply for assistance If you require intervention to help a horse, or would like to surrender a horse – please complete our application form. If you have more than one horse, complete the form for each.
